Associate in Arts, Hawaiian Studies (60 credits) is designed to provide the first two years of a baccalaureate program in Hawaiian Studies, but will also prepare you with beneficial qualifications for Hawaiʻi’s workforce, where knowledge of Hawaiian culture, values, and alternative approaches to problem-solving are desirable. Academic Subject Certificate in Hawaiian Studies (17 credits) is intended to provide students with a strong introduction to the culture, language, and history of Hawai‘i and the Native Hawaiian people. The certificate enhances the Liberal Arts degree and prepares students with a strong foundation to complete their baccalaureate degrees in Hawaiian Studies or other fields of study at the University of Hawai‘i. Requirements for the ASC in Hawaiian Studies
The time to complete the certificates or the degree varies from one to four semesters. To obtain the associate degree in two years, you have to take an average of 15 credits/semester.
