Educational Activities
We have over 30 fun and unique activities to stimulate your mind and body! Test your skills and even get messy while you discover, learn, and explore! Everything you need will be provided – just come and have fun!

Local Food Vendors
HI Cravings, Jeremiah’s Island Fusion, Kona Ice, Krazy Dogs, Olay’s Thai Lao Cuisine, Paradise Kettle Corn,
Pop Culture Artisan Pops, Simply Ono, Subway, and Ala ‘Ike Grill (Leeward Culinary Arts Program) will have food available for sale.

Phat Joe, who is part of the Keola Morning Show on 102.7 Da Bomb, will be here to provide music, give away prizes, and pump up the excitement at our Fair!
Harvey The Magician

Harvey Ouchi, a member of Leeward’s first graduating class, will amaze you with his magic tricks!

Discovery Fair 2024 Activities
Beetle Battleship: Play a game similar to “Battleship” but with plants and pests.
Bookmarks to Build a Love for Literacy: Design and create bookmarks inspired by favorite books and authors! This fun, hands-on activity encourages creativity and a love for reading.
Bubblicious Geometry: Make bubbles, step inside a giant bubble, and learn why bubbles are always round.
Camera Obscura – Step Inside A Camera: Come on in! All the light coming into the room will be blocked except for a tiny hole, which will create an upside-down picture of what’s outside!
Cookie Decorating: Join the cookie decorating fun with Leeward CC’s Culinary Arts Program!
Discover Plants: Take these seeds and cuttings home with you to learn how to grow and care for your own plants!
Folding Your Future: Learn to make and take home a paper fortune teller related to Leeward CC’s programs.
Fun with Clay: Have fun with clay creations through hand building or wheel throwing.
Fun with Fish!: Use rubber casts of fish and shellfish to paint your own Gyotaku (fish painting/printing) masterpieces to take home!
Fun with Printmaking: Use a printing press to create your own relief print to take home.
Gummy Bears as a Fuel!: Watch a gummy bear burn and see it make light, heat, and sound! Learn what you need to make something burn: fuel, oxygen, and heat!
HOSA Health Challenge: Join us for two fun Operation board games! Compete for the fastest time on our leaderboard. We’ll also check your blood pressure and heart rates before and after jumping rope to learn about staying healthy!
Hū (Hawaiian Spinner top): Hū is a Hawaiian game played with a spinner made from a kukui nut.
Imagining Communities: Build a mini community using recycled materials.
Insane Lightning Bolt Challenge: Test how long it takes to remove five bolts and then put them all back in by hand.
Intergroup Social Perception (ISP) Lab: Learn about child psychology studies through worksheets and emotion wheels.
Korean Language and Culture: Color wooden pendants of Korean patterns, write names in Korean on slap bracelets.
Learning Style and Brain Games: Explore different learning styles and how your brain works in various situations through interactive activities.
Leeward Air Races – Flying is Fun!: Learn the basics of how airplanes fly by allowing each participant to create their own personalized paper airplane and fly it in a short air race.
Leeward CC Human Resources and Job Prep Offices: Recruiting positions for faculty, APT, civil service, and student employees.
Leeward CC Natural History Exhibit: Open tour of the Leeward CC Natural History Exhibit located in PS 204
Mad Hatter: Create a fashionable hat from recycled materials.
Makahiki Games Celebration: Embrace the Spirit of Tradition: The Makahiki games are traditional Hawaiian sports and competitions held during the annual Makahiki season, which is a period of peace, rejuvenation, and tribute to the god Lono. The season typically starts with the rising of makali’i (constellation Pleiades) in October or November and tested physical skills through games such as ‘Ulu Maika and Konane.
Math is Fun!: 6 to infinity are guaranteed to find something fun with these tricks, games, and puzzles based on math concepts.

Slime Time: Dive into a world of colorful chemistry at Slime Time! Join us to create custom slime, learn about hydrogen bonding, and take home your slimey creations.
Solving Anatomy Puzzles: Solve puzzle pieces related to anatomy models.
Sun Prints: Create kid-friendly photograms using cyanotype processes.
The Amazing Human Body: Human models and age-appropriate activities designed for children to learn about human anatomy.
Ulu Leaf Hand Printing: Like ulu leaves, we grow and learn together! Parents and keiki make hand prints symbolic of Pu‘uloa campus and Native Hawaiian culture.
